Zhang Ziyi Was Awesome in 'The Grandmaster,' So Here's Some GIFs

Zhang Ziyi has been a leading martial arts star for over a decade, and in her latest, Wong Kar-Wai's The Grandmaster, Zhang gives her stongest performance yet. After breaking onto the scene in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Zhang has steadily starred in a string of epic kung fu tales, including Zhang Yimou's Hero and House of Flying Daggers. Even when she's not flying through the air with a sword or kicking multiple men at the same time, she rules the screen with just about everything she does. Here is the proof, in GIF form.
In Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Zhang proves that she can hold her own with a much more experienced kung fu master.

Via
She can even fight without looking while drinking tea.

Via
Just throw that sword sheath casually to the side, NBD.

Via
This girl likes her swords sharp.

Via
In Hero, she takes on Jet Li. When this much fierce comes at you, you best get out the way.

Via
Multiple attackers are no match for Zhang.

Via
In Rush Hour 2, Zhang knows martial arts and how to shoot a gun. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Via
Even when she gets stabbed, she makes it look kind of cute.

Via
Zhang's beauty is mesmerizing, especially in black and white.

Via
She's even beautiful when she's somber and saying some really depressing stuff.

Via
House of Flying Daggers showcases Zhang's dance skills in a gorgeous brothel.

Via
But that doesn't mean she doesn't also have amazing kung fu skills.

Via
Even though she plays a blind woman, Zhang can still fend off bad guys while balancing between two bamboo trees.

Via
Sometimes she can be pretty tricky with her assassinations.

Via
In Memoirs of a Geisha, she has one fierce head-turn.

Via
Here she is fighting in The Grandmaster, in which she is a total, utter badass.

Did we mention that she's awesome?

Pop Reinventions Gone Wrong

By: Jon O'Brien
8:00am EDT

While the likes of Madonna, David Bowie and Prince have made the process of musical reinvention appear effortless, not every artist can get away with adopting such a chameleon-like approach to their career. Here's a look at five of the most misguided attempts at changing musical direction.
Garth Brooks Turns Into Chris Gaines
Pre-dating Joaquin Phoenix's equally perplexing attempt to become a rock star by about a decade, country's biggest star swapped his black cowboy hat for some black guyliner in 1999 for an album recorded under the guise of Chris Gaines. Unfortunately the film that Brooks assumed the fictitious persona for was never filmed, meaning that most of his fans thought he'd simply lost his mind and the ironically-titled Greatest Hits spent the next few years filling up bargain bins.
Robbie Williams Turns To Rap
Following nearly a decade of colossal success in which even a lazy collection of swing covers sold by the bucketload, Robbie Williams must have believed he was untouchable. 2006's Rudebox, a bewildering mixture of hip-hop, electronica and synth-pop spearheaded by the title track rap turkey, proved he most certainly wasn't, derailing his career at exactly the same time that his old boyband Take That began their triumphant second wind.
New Kids On The Block Get Tough
Following four albums of sugary teen pop, New Kids On The Block shortened their name, fired their long-time producer Maurice Starr and decided to go even more 'hangin' tough' on their 1994 comeback, Face The Music. Unsurprisingly, few were convinced by their transparent attempt to court some street credibility and the album crawled in at a lowly No. 37 on the Billboard charts.
Liz Phair Goes Pop
Hooking up with hit factory The Matrix, indie favorite Liz Phair made an unexpected bid for mainstream success with her pop-focused eponymous 2003 LP. In the short term, the bid to become Avril Lavigne's older sister paid off when it equalled the chart peak of her critically-acclaimed sophomore, Whip-Smart. But in the long term, the album was considered as an act of career suicide and despite returning to her lo-fi roots with subsequent releases, those fans who labelled her a sellout never returned.
Pat Boone Takes On Metal's Finest
In one of those career moves you still can’t quite believe actually happened, conservative Christian pop veteran Pat Boone donned a leather vest, earring and dog collar to promote 1997's In A Metal Mood...No More Mr. Nice Guy, a collection of classic rock anthems from the likes of Metallica, Guns N' Roses and of course, Alice Cooper, bizarrely performed in a big band style.

Britney Spears 'Works' It In Her New Single Artwork

Britney Spears, Work Bitch, Single, 2013, twitter
Miley, Katy, and Gaga should watch out: Britney Spears is coming back for her crown. The singer revealed the artwork for her latest single, "Work Bitch," which will drop on Sept. 17. The Las Vegas-themed picture, in which Spears is clad in sequins and feathers, might be a nod to the rumors of a possible residnecy there. She's currently filming the song's music video and has been teasing her fans with pictures all week via Twitter. Let's just hope it's better than that song she put out with will.i.am last year.

"Work Bitch" is reportedly the lead single off Spears' upcoming eighth studio album. Her last album, Femme Fatale, was released in 2011, which was followed by as stint as a judge on The X Factor. She recently recorded the song "Ooh La La" for The Smufs 2  (so she's obviously on the up and up).

Miley Cyrus goes without underwear in outrageous all-black ensemble

Washington: Miley Cyrus was spotted wearing just a bra top and split pants in London.
The bottom half of her all-black ensemble gave a loose trouser look on one leg and a sheer skinny-pant cut on the other, which showed that she was not wearing underwear, Us magazine reported.
The 20-year old American actress and recording artist tried to pull off the Jean Paul Gaultier look by not wearing underwear beneath her all-black ensemble complete with a gold chain Chanel belt.
The former Hannah Montana star`s recent `Wrecking Ball` video in which she appears in the nude while swinging on a large demolition ball, broke the record for most online views in the first 24 hours following a premiere.

Adele, Rihanna and Katy Perry auction tattoo kisses!

London: Singer Adele, Rihanna and Katy Perry are putting their lipstick kisses up for auction along with the chance for celebrity tattoo artist Bang Bang to ink the image on the winning bidder.
Justin Bieber, Rita Ora, Cara Delevingne, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz and Alan Cumming are also offering up their autographed and framed kisses on auction website CharityBuzz.Com, reported Contactmusic.
The lucky winners will be given the option to have the kiss made permanent with a session at celebrity tattoo artist Bang Bang`s New York City studio.
Money raised from the lots will go towards the New York-based non-profit organisations Empty Cages Collective and Animal Haven.

Cara Delevingne eyes cheesy tattoo

London: Model Cara Delevingne may experiment more with body art as she is thinking of inking a cheese and bacon tattoo.
The 21-year-old model`s current tattoo collection includes a `Made in England` on her foot, a lion on her right index finger and her initials on her right hand, reported Contactmusic.
"Should I get a tattoo of bacon or cheese?", Delevingne tweeted.
One of follower suggested cheesy bacon, to which she tweeted.
"I think bacon just not turkey bacon. If you get a bacon tattoo you have to go all the way. Keeping it real."
Delevingne had her initials CJD etched by New York-based tattoo artist Bang Bang whose clients include Rihanna, Demi Lovato and Rita Ora among others.

'Diana' bosses slam radio host after Naomi Watts walks out of interview

London: The producers of Naomi Watts starrer `Diana`, which revolves around the love life of the Princess of Wales, has prohibited a radio station from talking to any of their "talent".
They also slammed the host Simon Mayo for acting "unprofessionally".
The blonde beauty had previously stormed out of the BBC radio interview after she became uncomfortable with Mayo`s questions regarding her role in the movie.
Talking about the latest feud the Entertainment One , one of the UK`s biggest movie firms, Mayo, who has interviewed the likes of Richard Curtis, Anne Hathaway and Michael Douglas, said that he was not asking any difficult questions as the film is not about Diana`s death, the Mirror reported.
Mayo asserted that he did not want to talk about Diana`s death, or the Duke of Edinburgh or even the SAS, but the actress obviously felt uncomfortable.
Mayo said that when he was asking questions, Watts turned to her publicist whispered something in her ear, got up and left.
He insisted that his company has now been told that the film company won`t let them interview any stars they have in their movies.
Mayo added that he has listened back to the tape of the interview and he could see nothing wrong with it.

Arcade Fire Facepalm: What's Up With The New Album Cover?

Arcade Fire

Earlier this week, Arcade Fire revealed the cover art to their forthcoming fourth album, Reflektor, out October 29 on Merge Records. As befitting the Canadian collective's ever more elaborate album concepts, the sleeve features a piece of classical statuary depicting Orpheus rescuing Eurydice from the underworld. If you know the myth, that explains why the male figure is shading his eyes (no spoilers here!). But if you don't know the story, it looks as if he's performing that favorite internet meme, the facepalm. Or, as my friend Paul put it when he saw the sleeve, it looks like he's just found out that the band being called "Coldplay for hipsters" isn't meant as a compliment.

To be fair, the title track sounds a lot less overblown than 95% of The Suburbs did, and the Anton Corbijn-directed video is genuinely extremely cool-looking. Although the combination of Corbijn's video and David Bowie's guest vocals suggests Arcade Fire has reached the "working alongside our idols" stage of their career, and the fact that the single is being released under the band name "The Reflektors" is a little cute. There's also an interactive video much like the one they released for The Suburbs' first single. That Carnival-esque video, which requires the use of your smartphone or tablet's camera, is highly reminiscent of Marcel Camus' 1959 film Black Orpheus. Which brings us right back to the faceplaming Orpheus up there. I'm sure it's all make sense eventually. Including why they spelled the album title like that

How 'Dawson's Creek' Bred a Generation of Sappy Girls

Dawson's CreekThe WB
When Dawson’s Creek first premiered in 1998, I was just starting the eigth grade, one year younger than the show's characters who would become my best friends. The day after it aired, my pals and I got to fighting about who was most like Joey. I won because we shared the same collection of Abercrombie zip-up hoodies with arms that we both self-consciously pulled down over our hands, and because I had already printed the lyrics to "I Don’t Want to Wait" off of Yahoo and hung them up in my locker.
This was before Katie became Tom-Kat and before Dawson was in on his own joke. It was just me and Joey Potter, navigating adolescence together. She taught me that if you were coy, emotionally withholding, and smiled with only one side of your mouth, then a boy would buy you a wall.
Joey was the manic-pixie-dream-girl-next-door. She was beautiful, broken and brainy and she showed us quirky chicks that over-analyzation could be cute (it's not). She made all of us late-bloomers believe that we too could be discovered. We’d sit on park benches with nerdy books, walk solemnly past the popular boys in the cafeteria, and wait for our turn to be noticed by a brooding filmmaker with unruly bangs. If it could happen for the waifish girl with a bad dye job from the wrong side of the bay, then why couldn’t we have a perfectly story-boarded first kiss?
Dawson’s Creek made talking about feelings totally de rigueur. It taught a new breed of baby feminists that emotions should be valued, as long as they were expressed through awkwardly big words. We spent afternoons perfecting our lingering looks, our lower lip bites and our bedroom eyes, only to realize that once we started boozing in college, all of these skills would become obsolete. Dawson’s Creek gave us the training wheels we needed to wax poetic about sex without having it and gave our boyfriends major complexes because they couldn’t compete with the men of Capeside. Not even the gay guy.
When the show ended after six beautiful seasons, I cried more than I ever have at a funeral (RIP Jen Lindley – miss you, girl!) It wasn’t just that I wouldn’t have my American Eagle-clad friends around anymore (though that was a very embarrassing part of it). I went into mourning for future generations of girls who wouldn’t have the same sentimental role models I did to teach them how to feel, use their SAT words improperly and hold their booty calls to higher standards. I guess they'll always have Teen Moms for that.

Why Americans Ignore The Venice Red Carpet And Fashion Insiders Don't

Its hard to make headlines with style that sneaks in on the tips of its toes, and even harder to get away with it. But far away from the media crush of Hollywood, on the smaller red carpets like The Venice Film Festival, celebrities, stylists and designers take risks. The risks they take are the quiet ones, the tasteful ones. There are no cable pundits breathing down their necks when they do, so it often goes unnoticed. Fashionistas, on the other hand, shift to the fronts of their seats.

Show creator Mike Kelley has left the show so Sunil Nayar, Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts are now in charge. We’ve seen the season opener, and we love what the opening moments set up. Victoria Grayson is happier than we’ve ever seen her. Nolan is a free man. Charlotte Grayson is back from Europe. Ashley is still scheming.

New 'Homefront' Trailer Plants a Mystery About James Franco's Relationship with Alligators

After losing his wife and the mother of his young daughter in the new crime drama Homefront, undercover cop Jason Statham decides it's time for a change. So he packs up and moves himself and the youngster to the countryside. A fresh start, free of the criminal burdens that have left his life a wreck. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to the good lawman, this particular town has its own demon. It operates under the greasy, blood-covered thumb of a drug dealing James Franco. And as Statham works his way deeper into the town's barrel of secrets, he learns more about his new adversary. "They call him Gator," explains an in-the-know local, adding, "for some reason."

Homefront_D22_7244.CR2
For some reason. A colloquial phrase perpetrating one grand question: what is the reason? Why does Franco's criminal go by Gator? Why does he sport a gator tattoo on his forearm? What nefarious, reptilian implications are at play here?
Does Franco have a romantic relationship with a gator that he's trying to keep a secret from the paparazzi (a la his role on 30 Rock)? Perhaps he was raised by gators, vowing once and for all to take back society for his scaled family? Or maybe he, himself, is a gator, evolved to human form after years of nuclear waste corroding the nearby waters? He could very well be just a zany criminal who thinks gators are neat. But we're going to go with the evolution thing.

Jessica Biel changes her name

London: Actress Jessica Biel has reportedly changed her name to Jessica Timberlake but will continue to use her own name professionally.
The ‘Playing For Keeps’ actress married singer-turned-actor Justin Timberlake, 32, in Italy last October after dating for five years, reported Contactmusic.
"It`s all official! The paperwork is done and she`s now legally Jessica Timberlake," a source said.
An insider previously revealed that Jessica was planning to change her name shortly after she and Justin exchanged vows.
The couple tied the knot following four days of celebrations at the luxurious Borgo Egnazia resort in Puglia, southern Italy.
The former N` Sync singer serenaded Jessica with a romantic self-penned ditty on his guitar as she walked down the aisle in a pale pink Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown.

David Beckham pulls out of Ramsay's restaurant

London: Retired soccer icon David Beckham has reportedly backed out of opening a Mediterranean-themed eatery here with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.
The 38-year-old, who was believed to have invested in his 46-year-old chef friend`s restaurant which is opening Sep 16, has pulled out since both men had a different vision for the project, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
"They may be best friends, but they are also very astute businessmen and both wanted different things. Becks was ready to make an investment and had visited the site," Daily Mirror newspaper quoted a source as saying.
"But they both talked long and hard and have decided not to work together on this occasion," added the source.
The restaurant, Union Street Cafe, has already attracted keen diners. It received over 1,200 reservations within half-an-hour of the website launch and 2,500 reservations within four hours.

When Celebs Hit Broadway

Cast attends photocall for 'Taboo - The Boy George Musical' at Brixton Club House in London, England - 11.09.12 Where: London, United Kingdom When: 11 Sep 2012 Credit: WENN
Sometimes, music and movies just aren’t enough for the public when it comes to celebrity consumption. In those situations, things are taken to the stage for some hardcore dramatic renderings.

For the 2013-2014 Broadway season, a new musical inspired by Tupac’s music will be hitting Broadway. Kenny Leon, the director of Broadway shows like Fences and The Mountaintop, will be directing Holler If Ya Hear Me, an original anti-violence story based on Todd Kreidler’s book of the same name, set to Tupac’s music. Also, hitting Broadway soon will be a musical based on Channing Tatum’s semi-biographical Magic Mike, because who doesn’t want to see a bunch of half-naked studs singing and dancing on a stage.
Here are a few other celebrity-inspired musicals that have taken over Broadway.
The First (based on Jackie Robinson)
The First was a baseball musical which, believe it or not, is actually not an oxymoron. Inspired by the success of the baseball musical Damn Yankees, 1981’s The First centered on Jackie Robinson’s first year playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers as a second baseman. Robinson definitely deserved to be celebrated, as he was the first African-American to join the MLB, but the musical only lasted for thirty-seven shows.  Although the reviews for the show weren’t exactly fawning, critics got to get a few good zingers in, courtesy of the title. Examples include: “[The musical] is not exactly hitting a home run” and “The First never gets to first base” (*gong*).
Marilyn: An American Fable  (based on Marilyn Monroe) Since her death in 1962, Marilyn Monroe has been one of the most exploited celebrated stars in the entertainment world. Whether it’s mediocre movies on her life or hideous tattoos on the forearms of starlets (here’s looking at you, Megan Fox), the overuse of Monroe most likely has her rolling in her grave so much that she’s making herself chapatis by now. Originally on Broadway in 1983, this musical claimed to be an “authorized” version of Monroe’s life – even though the musical had a happy ending. Someone should probably let the producers know that 5 minutes after the happy ending, a couple of Kennedys walked in and…
Lennon (based on John Lennon)
Debuted in 2005, the Yoko Ono-produced Lennon was essentially a John Lennon tribute extravaganza that focused on his life, Yoko Ono, his music, Yoko Ono, his influence, and Yoko Ono. The show was notable for not making any mention of the Beatles, and Ono justified this by stating that the musical was about Lennon, not the Beatles. Of course, the only reason why anyone even knows or cares about John Lennon is because of the Beatles, but hey, whatever works. The musical also mysteriously left out any mention of Lennon’s 18-month fling with his and Ono’s personal assistant May Pang during the time that he and Ono were separated. But it is about his life, promise!
Coco (based on Coco Chanel)In her first and only Broadway musical, Katherine Hepburn played Coco Chanel in 1969’s Coco. Although critics weren’t too impressed with Hepburn’s musical prowess (hint: she had none) and gave the musical mediocre to unimpressed reviews, the show was a financial success, selling out nearly everywhere it was featured. Coco looked at Chanel’s return to the world of haute couture after fifteen years of retirement in 1953 Paris, with her arch nemesis being an insanely stereotypical gay designer trying to take down Chanel’s designer realness.
Taboo (based on Boy George)Taboo was based on the friendship of Boy George and legendary club promoter Leigh Bowery against the backdrop of the hedonistic New Romantic scene of the early 1980s. Premiering in 2002 in London, the musical was apparently so awesome to Rosie O’Donnell that she had to have a piece of it. She partnered up with Boy George to bring the show to Broadway, but after getting some pretty derisive reviews (even during rehearsals!), the musical eventually came to an end after 100 shows. Despite reportedly losing her entire $10 million investment in the project, O’Donnell is still interested in bringing the show back to Broadway again.

These Child Stars Escaped the '80s and '90s (Relatively) Unscathed

Child stars...many of them flame out or go on reality shows, like Danny Bonaduce. The list of those who didn't make it out is long, too: Gary Coleman, Dana Plato, etc. Here are the ones from the 1980s and 1990s that survived and thrived:

1. Leonardo DiCaprio

He was capturing people's hearts on Growing Pains LONG before Titanic. DiCaprio's had a pretty good run too, being in Blood Diamond, The Departed and Inception  of late. Yeah. I'd say he's doing pretty well.
2. Mila Kunis

Before she hit the '70s and Black Swan, Kunis was on shows like Seventh Heaven. She's also great at voiceover work, doing a long stint on Family Guy.  Her love life has been well-chronicled too, but she seems to have kept her head on her shoulders quite well.
3. The Olsen Twins

They might not be doing as much now, but they made a mint post Full House. During a certain period in the 2000s, they were EVERYWHERE, having their own line of clothes, direct-to-DVD movies, you name it. Oh yeah, there was that whole creepy "Wait-until-they-turn-18" countdown. That was a bummer.
4. Alyssa Milano

Who's The Boss? She's the boss now on shows like Mistresses. She's also got a huge following on Twitter and she's a die-hard baseball fan. She's certainly got a Charmed life.
5. Niel Patrick Harris

Before Barney Stinson, he was legen - wait for it... - dary as Doogie Howser, MD. Of course, there were those hilarious appearances in the Harold & Kumar movies. He's also been a great role model for the LGBT crowd.
6. Jason Bateman

His life's in Arrested Development now, but he had a Silver Spoon in his mouth in the '80s. Bateman's always been someone who realizes he has an awesome job as an actor and is glad to be making a living doing that. Heck, he's even appeared on Yo Gabba Gabba.
7. Sarah Jessica Parker

Carrie Bradshaw sure was a Square Peg in the '80s. She's also married to an icon of the decade: Matthew Broderick. I wonder if he keeps giving her Ferris Bueller advice...
8. Michael J. Fox

He hasn't severed his Family Ties with NBC; he's got his own show coming up in the fall. It's a miracle that he's doing that, since he's been fighting Parkinson's for a very, very long time. I hope his good run continues.
9. Drew Barrymore

As a kid, she met with an extraterrestrial: that might explain the weird people she subsequently dated. Since then, she's become a Angel and a rom-com queen, and she's been the face of beauty commercials for a long time.
10. Justin Timberlake

This ex-Mouseketeer is doing much better than another one, his ex Britney Spears. He recently briefly re-united with his former boy band N'Sync and had one of the most anticipated album releases in 2013 with The 20/20 Experience.  He's also been in some movies, and he's a staple on both Saturday Night Live and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Yeah, I think he's doing okay.

In Honor of Ja'mie's Return, A Look Back at Comedy's Best Cross-Dressing Moments

Chris Lilley is bringing our favorite Summer Heights High character back with Ja'mie: Private School Girl. This time, she's left public school and back on her old stomping grounds, Hillford Girls Grammar School, where the lawns are more manicured and the trash bins are less random. We love Ja'mie for her brutal honesty, her words of wisdom, and her tireless goal of helping others. She's such a strong character that sometimes we forget that she's played by Australian actor Chris Lilley, who makes playing a schoolgirl look so natural and believable. We tip our hats to Mr. Lilley for creating one of the best female characters played by a man in comedy history. To celebrate Ja'mie's triumphant return, we're taking a look back at the best cross-dressing moments in comedy. (And of course, a feathered hat must be tipped to Eddie Izzard, one of the few real-life out transvestites in comedy.)

Tootsie (1982)
Dustin Hoffman's gender-bending role as Miss Dorothy Michaels is one of his most memorable. Out-of-work actor Michael Dorsey (Hoffman) dresses up as Dorothy and auditions for a female part on a popular soap opera. He lands the part and becomes a famous actress, but soon faces complications with his new identity, as he falls in love with his costar Julie and is courted by Julie's father. Tootsie earned 10 Oscar nominations, one of which was won by Jessica Lange as Julie, and the American Film Institute ranked it as the second funniest film of all time.

The Kids in the Hall (1988-1994)
The boys of The Kids in the Hall made playing girls a regular thing on TV. In fact, playing women was one of their trademarks, but they weren't in drag, they were just playing regular women. They made cross-dressing and playing the opposite sex seem normal, natural, and comfortable, paving the way for characters like Ja'mie. Two of our favorite characters are secretaries Cathy and Kathie, whose sketches often feature all five of the members playing women.

Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)
Robin Williams was born to play Mrs. Doubtfire. After his character, Daniel, loses custody of his kids in his divorce, he finds a way to stay in their lives by applying to be their housekeeper. With the help of his makeup artist brother, he transforms into hefty Scottish matriarch Mrs. Doubtfire. His family has no idea that Mrs. Doubtfire is actually Daniel, and he is able to fully take on the role of their housekeeper, learning to be a better parent to his kids along the way.

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994)
Terence Stamp, known for playing villains and intimidating types, steps out of his comfort zone and into gorgeous gowns as Bernadette in this critically acclaimed Australian comedy. His stage partners are played by equally unlikely actors, Hugo Weaving and Guy Pearce. The trio travel in a purple school bus named Priscilla through the Australian outback to reach their gig in Alice Springs. They encounter many interesting characters along the way, and Bernadette questions her path in life.

To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything! Julie Newmar (1995)
Coming off the success of Priscilla, To Wong Foo is a similar twist on the buddy-movie genre. Three professional drag queens, Vida Boheme (Patrick Swayze), Noxeema Jackson (Wesley Snipes), and Chi Chi Rodriguez (John Leguizamo) take a road trip from New York to LA and get into several mini adventures in the small towns along the way. In their encounters, the three ladies teach the townspeople valuable life lessons on self-confidence, chivalry, and love.

The Birdcage (1996)
This remake of the Franco-Italian classic La Cage aux Folles stars Robin Williams as Armand, the owner of a South Beach drag club, and Nathan Lane as Armand's domestic partner and star drag queen. When Armand's son, Val, gets engaged to Barbara, whose father is an ultraconservative Republican senator, Armand must create the illusion that he is a straight man when he invites Barbara's parents over for dinner. The ruse gets complicated — but hilarious — when Albert (Lane) uses his talents for cross-dressing and pretends to be Albert's wife.

Sorority Boys (2002)
It's definitely not the most eloquent example of cross-dressing in cinema, but Sorority Boys is proof that the tactic can been used in any genre, even teen sex comedies. Three mysgonistic playboys are accused of embezzlement and get kicked out of their frat, and their only option to stay on campus rent-free is by dressing up like women and joining the sorority Delta Omicron Gamma (D.O.G.). Not the best message, but their past mistreatment of women does come back to bite them in the ass, and they learn a few lessons in the process.

White Chicks (2004)
In this movie, not only do Shawn and Marlon Wayans have to become a different sex, but also a different race. The premise is ridiculous, but that's part of the film's appeal. Brothers and FBI agents Marcus (Marlon) and Kevin (Shawn) Copeland must pretend to be socialite sisters Brittany and Tiffany Wilson (this was when the Hilton sisters were still relevant) in order to catch a serial kidnapper. The movie might not go down in film history, but pop culturalists will forever be haunted by those faces.

Looks like these two lovebirds are off the market! Alexa Vega's rep confirms to JustJared.com that she's engaged to Carlos Pena of the popular Nickolodeon show Big Time Rush. On Sept. 11, Pena posted an Instagram picture (below) showing off Vega's ring, with the caption, "My angel!!! @vegaalexa awesome road trip so far!! Now we just need to get back…"

'Mr. Nobody' Trailer: Jared Leto Gets Lost in Time

Mr. Nobody tells the story of the curiously named Nemo Nobody (Jared Leto), a child of parents clearly fascinated by alliteration. On a futuristic earth, Nemo is the last living mortal in a society that has discovered the ability to sustain life forever. While being interviewed by a reporter before his death, he tells the story of his life, but can’t seem to get the facts straight. Nemo's story changes based on whether, as a boy, he decided to stay with his mother or his father after their divorce. The progression of his life hinges on that choice, and the differing outcomes of said choice lead to some loopy alternate reality storytelling.

Mr. Nobody
The trailer gives us a lot of great imagery to feed on as it switches between modern day, to the early eighties, and all the way up to 2092 where we see Leto caked with old man makeup. It’s a work of poetic genius that Nemo Nobody is being played by Jared Leto, an actor who himself seems to be stuck shifting between his own divergent realities as a rock superstar and a serious actor. Leto's own career choices synch with Nemo's stuggle to hone in on one reality like a glove, and it's a pretty cool coincidence. But besides the random or not so random casting coincidences, Leto looks to be the perfect person to capture Nemo's mythic life journey through time and changing realities.
Just like the film's main character, Mr Nobody's release schedule has a jumbled relationship with time. The film premiered at the 2009 Venice film festival after being denied release at Cannes. From there it was shown at several film festivals around the world, and saw theatrical releases around Europe, but is only just now being released in American theaters. Even though it took a while to see an American release, Mr. Nobody looks like a interesting and heady piece of sci-fi drama.

BOLLYWOOD NEWS UPDATES

Preity Zinta in 'Bhaiyyaji Superhit'

New Delhi: Preity Zinta, who was last seen in her home production ‘Ishkq In Paris’, and, is in for a cameo appearance in Saif Ali Khan’s next ‘Happy Ending’, will be seen in ‘Bhaiyyaji Superhit’
According to a leading national daily, Preity is playing a rustic character, and it should be an appealing transformation for the star.
"I`ve been expanding my horizons, exploring new areas of work-related activity. That is difficult for a lot of my colleagues in Bollywood to understand. For them cinema is the sum-total of their activity. I didn`t want my life to be restricted to one vocation. I`ve done other things. Now I`m back being what I am most comfortable doing," Preity was quoted.
She stars opposite Sunny Deol who is playing a UP based gangster and Zinta is a rustic beauty. The movie promises to have the usual action and rural outlook which is a great crowd puller.
With Sunny Deol playing a double role, the movie is being directed by Neeraj Bhatia who had earlier worked with Deol in ‘Right Yaaa Wrong’.
Apart from Sunny and Preity, ‘Bhaiyyaji Superhit’ will also feature Arshad Warsi, Ameesha Patel, Mithun Chakraborty, Prakash Raj and Shreyas Talpade.
The movie is scheduled to release sometime later this year.

I will beat Shah Rukh's record with my next film: Salman Khan

Mumbai: They hugged and made up recently at an iftaar party but Salman Khan is in no mood to relent when it comes to their box office rivalry and claims he will outdo Shah Rukh Khan with his next film.
Salman acknowledged that SRK starrer beat the box office records set by him but is not too worried about `Chennai Express` earning Rs 225.67 crore.
"I hugged Shah Rukh during Ramadan because it was a pious month and it`s not only me who should show such gestures to friends but all should do that. It`s a being human act.
"I don`t have any personal enmity with him and I know his release broke all my records. If I have any problem then I want to beat the person through my work. My next release will be an answer to all the new records which are going to happen at the box-office be it Aamir`s `Dhoom 3` or new actor Ranbir`s next film," Salman said during a press conference for `Bigg Boss` season 7.

Salman, 47, returns as the host of the celebrity reality show for the fourth time and when asked whether he will invite his `Karan Arjun` co-star on the show, he was all for it.

"I will invite Shah Rukh on my show. If he wants to come and promote his film, he is most welcome," he said.

Asked if he would like to do a show like Aamir`s `Satyamev Jayate`, Salman joked, "I am open to do anything. If Aamir does not want to host it then I will associate myself with the show. Not only `Satyamev Jayate`, if Bachchan sahab feels he is too old to host `Kaun Banega Crorepati` then I will do that also."
The actor, who was in a jovial mood during the press conference, said the only question that makes him angry is about his marriage.

"Nothing happens without God`s wish. When I will get a girl I will definitely get married. People who ask me such questions, I feel they are brain dead," he said.

‘Raghupati Raghav’ song: Watch Hrithik and Priyanka in this ‘Krrish 3’ party number!

New Delhi: The party season is yet to begin but here is a brand new song that you can check out before you compile a fresh party songs list for your next bash. ‘Krrish 3’ makers are just out with ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’, a club number featuring actors Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra.
‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ seems on the lines of ‘Dil Na Diya’ from ‘Krrish’ which too was composed by Hrithik’s uncle Rajesh Roshan. But we think that the latter was more interesting in terms of beats and lyrics. Also, we wonder whether or not the usage of the phrase ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram’ in a club number will go down well with the conservative groups who are hot on blasting films carrying any objectionable content.
Anyway, the song still makes for a pleasant watch for Hrithik’s amazing choreography and his fine chemistry with Priyanka Chopra. If you are a ‘Krrish 3’ fan, go ahead and watch it.
The song is sung by Neeraj Shridhar, Monali Thakur and Bob while the lyrics are written by Sameer Anjaan.

I am a fan of every fit body: Pooja Chopra

Mumbai: Model-turned-actress Pooja Chopra is a self-confessed fitness freak and says she is a fan of anyone who has a great body to flaunt.
"I am a fan of everyone who keeps himself or herself fit. So I am a fan of everyone who believes in healthy lifestyle and has a good body to flaunt," the 28-year-old said here Wednesday during a video conference at Reliance digital store here.
The 28-year-old also stated that the trend of "fit body" started by actors like Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt and has now passed on to the younger actors, which is a good thing.
"In the industry there are guys like Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan who started the trend of being fit. Today actors like Varun Dhawan and Siddharth (Malhotra) are doing it and (I am a fan of ) everybody who has a great body," said Pooja, who made her Bollywood debut with action-packed film `Commando`.
Meanwhile, the actress is currently shooting for "Commando 2" with actor Vidyut Jamwal and says their friendship of five years makes it a lot more comfortable to work together.
"I don`t think I was Vidyut`s fan because he was my friend. Vidyut and I know each other for the past five years. We have done modelling together and a lot of ramp shows," she said.
"I wouldn`t say I was excited to work with him but I was at ease that I am going to be working with a friend and not a stranger," she added.
"Commando" was directed by Dilip Ghosh and produced by Vipul Shah. Vidyut`s real stunts impressed the audience which led the makers to make a sequel to the film.

Why did Salman Khan’s female fans create a ruckus outside his Bandra residence?

A couple of Agra-based young women, Neha Yadav and Nikki were spotted crying outside the gate of Galaxy Apartments by two men, who informed the Mumbai police and saved them from falling into the wrong hands
If you thought crazy fans can turn only regular film shoot schedule into a nightmare, here’s an eye-opener. It’s learnt that two young women – Neha Yadav (21) and Nikki (19) from Agra landed in Mumbai on Monday, September 9, outside their fave superstar Salman Khan’s Bandra Bandstand’s Galaxy Apartments hoping to meet him.
All hell broke loose when two male friends (Azam Ansari and Chandan Shinde) spotted the sisters crying inconsolably outside Sallu’s home. On asking what was wrong, the friends learnt that the sisters had fled from their uncle Raju Yadav’s home and reached Mumbai on Monday. Neha knew fashion designing; she wanted to pursue a career in the film industry and was looking for a job.
Both Azam and Chandan informed the Vile Parle police who took control of the situation. The women are currently in the safe custody.

Will Katrina Kaif ever kiss and make up with Malaika Arora Khan?

Seeing the current scenario, wethinks Munni and Sheila have a long way to go before any kind of friendship blossoms between them…
Catfights in Bollywood are normal and so are patch-ups. But in the case of Katrina Kaif and Malaika Arora Khan, the ‘patch-up’ phrase seems to be missing from their vocab. Kat and Malaika have never been the best of friends and the two hotties continue to share not-so-warm vibes. Tabloid reports say the Dhoom:3 babe ignored Malaika when she recently celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi with Salman Khan’s family. Ms Kaif was present at Alvira Agnihotri’s residence in Bandra where Ganpati was hosted this year by the Khan-daan. Kat and Mal didn’t exchange any pleasantries, making it quite clear that there is no hope for a kiss and make up situation between them.
Not long ago, Katrina made some unflattering comments about Maliaka’s online fashion label. The catty marks didn’t go down well with Sallu’s sister-in-law and she shot back. Even while Katrina was dating Salman, she hardly interacted with Malaika. But the two were cordial back then…at least in front of the cameras.
Now that Kat-Salman ki prem kahaani has ended, it seems these two women have decided to show their ‘who cares’ attitude. While we like the fact that Kat and Mal aren’t playing the pretending-to-get-along game anymore, wethinks they should take a cue from the Being Human actor. Remember Sallu sharing a warm hug with his arch-rival Shahrukh Khan at an Iftar party. That’s how you celebrate festive occasions. You let bygones be bygones and soak in the true spirit of the festival!
Considering the two warring Khans did it, we don’t think it’s too hard for Katrina and Malaika, hai na?

Like Deepika Padukone's ‘Fast and Furious 7’, the Hollywood films that never happened

Presenting Bollywood missed trysts with H-Town.
So are you one of those people who believed that Deepika Padukone had signed ‘Fast and Furious 7’? Really, how many times have we witnessed this Hollywood hoax before? First the actor’s publicist leaks the news to some publication that he/she is being considered.
Then follows stories of how they are in talks and contract has to be signed. And finally reports of how the actress is too busy with other commitments to do the film are fed to the tabloids. How gullible can you be... For every Shabana Azmi, Om Puri and Irrfan Khan, who actually worked with A-listers in Hollywood, there is a Saif Ali Khan, a Deepika Padukone and an Anushka Sharma who couldn’t/wouldn’t/didn’t.
Why do Indian actors open their mouths so enthusiastically whenever it comes to a Hollywood project...only to look red-faced when the project turns out to be a non-starter?

Deepika Padukone in ‘Fast & Furious’
The franchise should be re-named Fast & Furiously Funny. In no time, names such as Sonam Kapoor, Neetu Chandra and, ahem, Deepika were flying around as contenders for the heroine’s part in the next Fast & Furious film. Deepika apparently even informed Homi Adjania and Saif Ali Khan that she may not be able to do their new project Finding Frenny Fernandes if Fast & Furious happened. All we can say, laut ke buddhu ghar ko aaye.

Saif Ali Khan-Natalie Portman
Wrong Khan! It was Irrfan who worked with Natalie Portman in Mira Nair’s short film on New York. Saif was just fantasising out loud when he ‘happened’ to mention in an interview that he was working with the lovely Ms Portman. The ‘joke’ backfired as the matter apparently got legal. Ouch!

Anushka Sharma Steven Spielberg

Barely had he flown back to the US after his flying visit to Bollywood when rumours that Spielberg will make a film with Anushka floated freely. Last heard, poor Spielberg was scratching his head trying to remember who among the heroines who shook hands with him was Ms Sharma.

Aishwarya Rai Michael Douglas

Long before Michael put his foot in the mouth with his comments on oral sex being the cause of his cancer, he was meant to do a sequel to ‘Romancing The Stone’ with Ash. To her credit she came close to working on this project. Locations were scouted. But then the project proved economically not viable... or something.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-Will Smith
This one really and truly would’ve happened. Will Smith was most keen that Ms Rai play the lead with him in John Hancock. In fact, he personally invited her after bathing her in compliments. But at that time Aishwarya was busy looking after Abhishek’s critically-ill grandmother. Exemplary no? In a country where stars are known to slavishly jump through the hoop even when Hollywood doesn’t even beckon!

Has Ajay Devgn changed his name?

Singham fans will not be disappointed with this interesting development!
Ajay Devgn can now be officially called Action Jackson! And before you let you thoughts run haywire, let us tell you that AJ (as he’s fondly called in his close circles) has not changed his name. Ajay’s next film with Prabhudeva now finally has the perfect title to go with Action Devgn. Apparently the actor has borrowed the first two initials of his name AJ, and came up with the title Action Jackson. We hear this action hero’s Blackberry shows his name as AJ, isn’t that like starting the promotions a little too early?
We also hear that this Action Jackson will not have one or two ladies to romance, but three of them – Sonakshi Sinha, Yaami Gautam and a sexy chic who is being kept strictly under the wraps. Well, AJ and Mr Deva, don’t be surprised if we at BollywoodLife will be the first ones to bust this top secret!

I will never leave 'Bigg Boss': Salman Khan

Mumbai: Superstar Salman Khan is set to host the popular reality show `Bigg Boss` for the fourth time and confesses he will not leave the show until the channel itself asks him to do so.
The actor will host the seventh season of spicy celebrity reality show.
"I am very excited about season seven. I have enjoyed all the seasons so far. It feels like only the chqannel will throw me out now, I will not leave it and will keep on doing it," the 47-year-old said here Wednesday at the launch of `Bigg Boss Season - Saath 7`.
The concept of the show this year revolves around the existence of heaven and hell together.
Salman took a shot at the media about this and said, "There is both heaven and hell and both are in me. When it comes to me, I don`t know why do you (journalists) shift towards hell?"
"When it comes to others, they (media) become angels and when it is about me, they become devil," he added.
Home to 14 celebrity contestants for 104 days, the `Bigg Boss` house will be based in Lonavala.
